I will be working on updating my website in the near future (at least I hope so), which will eventually also contain my new blog! The blog already links directly in with my facebook page, which I think is pretty neat. The blog contains so far a little bit about the process of what I am working on at the moment, and where I get my inspiration from. It's a good way for me to reflect on what I do, but also it will hopefully be interesting for other who are interested in my work. I did this all through my MA, and it was very helpful indeed! I just discovered this a couple of days ago, and it is really brilliant. It's a "3D-modelling" program called Make Human.

I suppose it's not technically a modelling program, as you are not really building or modelling anything. It does exactly what the name says: makes a human. You start with a generic and genderless human mesh, then you adjust the features; masculinity/femininity, height, weight, muscles mass. Then you can go into more details, all the way down to facial features.

The part I like the most is that you can pose the human in any way you like! The joints look a bit odd, but for just getting the proportions, perspective and angles right, it's brilliant.

I highly recommend trying it out. Saves searching for that perfect pose reference, which you never really find anyway. Make Human is an open source program, and is completely free. It is still in alpha, but works fine. You can even import the humans you make to a 3D-modelling program like Blender if you like, and continue working on them from there!

On another note, I am going to be at the Roath Art & Craft Bazaar next Saturday (7th og May) at the Mackintosh Sports & Social Club in Cardiff! Free entry, open from 9.30 to 13.00. If you happen to live in the area, it's definitely worth a look. There are plenty of makers there who have the most amazing things!

As you might have figured out, I am trying to sell my work, mostly ceramics, but also watercolour paintings. If you are interested, or just want some information, then send me a note

It's half term here in the UK this week, which means the school where I have my "residency" is practically deserted. I have the whole art department to myself, and I'm loving it.

For Christmas I got a case of 36 watercolour pencils, and I am spending this week testing them. I have mostly been painting abstracted landscapes, some of which I have uploaded to my gallery. I like working with the contrasting colours, and really let them shine. I haven't really painted in a long time, and I am very much enjoying this little break from ceramics. There's something very calming and almost tranquil about sitting completely alone in an empty building, painting with watercolours.
